[ SCAMBAITING SITES ]

When I first started scambaiting, I was inspired by a handful of sites. Unfortunately, a few of these sites have since vanished. I have listed the ones that remain.

The Adventures of Wendy Willcox - I managed to locate this great story and thought, "Yeah, I could do that". I drew quite a bit of inspiration (and a few ideas) from Wendy's story.

The 419 Game - Ebenezer Codpiece is back. This site has always been one of my absolute favorites and I've attempted to emulate his style in some of my own games. Sadly, Mr. Codpiece hasn't been active in quite a while.

What's the Bloody Point? - Another great scambaiting site. The fellow who operates this site is reported to be one of the first scambaiters to actually scam money from the scammers. Lots of laughs here.

After my first foray into this growing internet sport, I found many more sites devoted to scambaiting. Below, in no particular order, are some of my personal favorites.

419 Eater - Claims to be the world's largest organized group of scambaiters. I don't doubt that claim for a moment. In addition to hosting some of the finest scambaits ever, it has a forum section with thousands of active members.

Scam-o-Rama - The operators of this site don't do any scambaiting themselves. Rather, they publish the work of others. There are hundreds of scambaits published here as well as a plethora of information on advance fee fraud. Well presented. Be sure to read the "Sarcastic FAQ".

Nigerian Money Scams - The Nigerian Letters - J. Cosmo Newbery has been scambaiting since the days when these 419 letters arrived by fax and he's still at it. Very witty and entertaining scambaits.

The Brad Christensen Exhibit - Hilarious scambaiting here, this guy even makes his scammers laugh, though not for long. Part of a great site about fraud in general.

theScamBaiter.com - Home of "Anus Laptops". This site consists almost entirely of forums where some amazing scambaits are posted. Read how the owner of this site repeatedly ships hundreds of pounds of garbage via courier (including a dead washing machine) overseas at the scammer's expense. It's freight baiting at its finest.

www.scambuster419.co.uk - "Gilbert Murray" is one of the best waster of the scammers' time I've seen. Read how he repeatedly sends these lads to the bank to cash nonexistent money transfers. I've "borrowed" an idea or two from the scam baits on this site.

Ebola Monkeyman - More hilarious scambaits as well as other related stuff. Well done.

"Frank Rizzo" and the 419 Zeros - Another site with great scambaits and even greater insults with a healthy dose of vulgarity. Demonstrates how much verbal abuse these scammers are willing to take if they think they'll score a few hundred dollars.

419 Bitten Us - Another great scambaiting site. Just the sheer volume of scambaits that "Miss Young" can juggle at any given time is amazing.

Biskitz4Cheez - Scambait! - Scambaiting "in order to waste the scammer's time and to entice the scammer into performing pointless tasks". This scambaiter's a master at it. Hope to see even more from this baiter in the near future.

YeaWhatever's Scambaiting - The finest safari baits are here. Read as the scammers embark on long journeys to some of the worst hell-holes on earth. Excellent use of satellite imagery.

419.411 - A new scambaiting site from Barnum N. Bailey. One to watch.

419 Hell - Fighting Nigerian scams for fun - A very active site with some very amusing scambaits, good baiting resources, and other useful material.

"419" Scam - Loads of 419 resources, scam e-mail examples, information, and much more. A very in-depth site.
