The Stan Ifyob Abonime Letters

Stan Ifyob Abonime, a son of the late King Solomon, wants to extricate his late father's fortune-in-a-box of US$3,000,000 from Nigeria, thereby keeping this money out of the hands of his female siblings, and needs some outside help. Shanda Leer is very interested in helping the young prince share his inheritance.

The only reason I decided to take this on is because I have a strong feeling that the scammers here are the same ones I'm baiting in The Princess Blessing Abonime Letters and The Dr. Blessing Abonime Letters. In addition, I wanted to try something new with phone calls.

Conventions within the thread:

E-mails from the fraudsters are in black.
E-mails from me (Shanda Leer and Potty LaTrine) are in italicized green.
Red X's represent characters that have been changed to protect personal info.
Comments from me are in bold black.

The game commences with the scammer's initial e-mail.

Name: Mr. Stan Ifyob Abonime.
Residential Address: 121 balogun road, Akobi Crecent.
Ikeja, Lagos State,
Nigeria.

Hello My Dear,

My name is Mr. Stan Ifyob Abonime, I am the son of HRH King Solomon Abonime, the king of Ogoni Kingdom. I am 34 years old the only surviving son of my mother, My father was the king of Ogoni Kingdom the highest oil producing area in Nigeria. He was in charge of reviving royalties from the multi-national oil companies and government on behalf of the oil producing communities in Nigeria. After the killings and burning down of my fathers houses, properties and hanging of the Ogoni Nine(9) including Ken Saro Wiwa by the late dictator General Sani Abacha’s government, my father suffered stroke and died in August27th last year.

Before his death he called me and told me that he deposited the sum of Three Million United States Dollars with a Security Finance Company for a safe keeping. He advised me not to tell anybody except my mother who is the last wife of the (8) eight wives that he married. I am the only son and child of my Mother. The elder wives have taking possession of the whole wealth of my late father with their sons and daughters just because of African tradition. Due to the love that my father had for my mother, he told me to relocate to a foreign country with the fund and start a new life that in no condition should I decide to stay in Nigeria because they will kill me and my mother if they came to find out that we have such money in our possession.

He handed over the document that backs up that fund in the Security Finance Company, which he made with my name as the beneficiary. Now I am soliciting for your help in receiving this Box that contain this fund on my behalf. My mother and I would be coming to you and we will invest with the money in your country, you will help us in suggesting the kind of business that will be good. Also you will find a bungalow for us where we will reside. You are entitled to a reasonable part of this money based on our agreement, and God will bless you as you help us because we have nothing left with us, the fund in question is the only hope we have. Please reply with your (1) private telephone Number (2) your Home address (3) Your nationality. Tell me more about your self and what you do for a living.

Yours sincerely,

Mr.Stan Ifyob Abonime.

Dear Mr. Abonime,

Hi. You wrote to me a few days ago asking for my help. Are you certain that you have the right person? I don't think I know you. Are you the son of a King? Does this make you a prince?

I'm sorry I didn't reply to you earlier. I haven't had a chance to check my email recently because I have been on a camping trip. Please let me know if you are still interested in my help. I am interested in you. I hope you write back soon.

Dear Shanda,

Thanks for your reply. My mother and I are very grateful that you have decided to help us after a long wait. Anyway before I carry on I want you to believe me and equally believe that this is real. I equally believe that as things progress you will see that my mother and I are good people. I dont have a scanner in my house because if I did I would have scanned my ID for you and the certificate of deposit of the fund given to my father by the security company. But I promise to go outside and scan it in my next email to you.

All you need to do is to send to me your full name, your home address which is where the box that contains the fund would be delivered and their should be no mistake about that to avoid misplacing the fund and your phone number for easy communication.

When I recieve all these information from you I would proceed to the security company to file in an application for the release and delivery of the box which contains the fund to you as my beneficiary.

Please Shanda you will help us find a house, preferably a bungalow which is not too expensive so that when my mother and I come over we will pay for it and reside there comfortably.

I will be waiting to hear from you very soon. My mother sends her greetings to you and your family.

Best Regards,

Stan Ifyob Abonime.

Dear Stan,

Since I have asked you twice if you are a prince and you haven't answered me, I hope you don't mind if I call you Stan.

I assumed you knew me. Are you sure that you didn't email me by mistake? I don't understand how I can help you really. And I'm not entirely sure that I want to be giving out my address and phone number to just any old bloke who happens to email me. I mean, I don't know for sure that you are who you say you are.

Why don't you give me your address and phone number first. This way I can call you if I want.

Waiting...

Dear Shanda,

Once again I thank you for your response towards my mail. Yes I am a Prince but I dont mind if you call me Stan because it is my name. I equally dont blame you for having little doubts about me but like I said in my last email that it is a matter of time before you come to know that my mother and I are good people, only that we are unfortunate to dwell with the wrong people which is my family. I hope you do not mind but I will want you to go back to the first email that I sent to you and read it again, then you will understand what I am saying.

My address is 121 balogun road, Akobi Crecent. Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. And my phone number is +2348037408309. Feel free to get in contact with my mother and I any time. I hope that I have given you all that you want. Like I told you previously I need those informations from you so that we can proceed. As I write to you now and still in this country the lives of my mother and I are not safe for my step brothers from my late fathers other wives will go to any length to see that we are miserable for life.

Please my dear friend help us. I have being to the security company where my late father deposited the fund and they are waiting for your information so that they can release the box that contains the fund to you as my beneficiary in your country. As you reply with your information please tell me more about your country and some ideas as to how to invest. Also help us to find a house that we can pay for when we arrive.

I wait to hear from you very soon.

Dear Shanda,

Thanks for your email. My mother and I are very happy and grateful that you have finally decided to help us and we promise you that you would not regret it. I received your mail, which contained the information that I needed from you, I hope there is no mistake about the address because it is where the box that contains the fund will be delivered. I am 34 years of age and still single, I have never really found my match when it comes to ladies but I pray that very soon I will.

It is about 20 minutes to eight in the night here in my country so first thing tomorrow morning I will go to the security company to give them your information so that they can go ahead and release the box which contains the fund to you as my beneficiary in England. When I come back from the security company I will let you know what they told me.

I have attached my driver’s licenses and a copy of the certificate of deposit of the fund, which was given to my late father by the security company that he deposited the fund. Please in your next email send to me a copy of your ID for more identification, trust and understanding.

My mother and I would prefer a bungalow with about 2 or 3 bedrooms and please it should not be too expensive so that it will not be hard for to pay for it. So I hope you would find a good one for us. In your next email tell me more about yourself and your country, I will be waiting and when I come back from the security company tomorrow I will update you. My mother sends her greetings to you and your family.

The license is a fake. However, this is one of the best quality fakes I've seen so far from these scammers.

Shortly after his e-mail, he calls and leaves a message. The voicemail sound quality was so poor, I haven't bothered to include it here. Basically, he is calling Shanda to tell her to check her e-mail.

Dear Shanda,

Compliments of the day to you. I am still to hear from you, I hope you are all right and that you got my email yesterday. I called you last night but met your absence; so I dropped a message for you in your answering machine, hope you received it.

Anyway I went to the security company this morning and gave them your information. The man who is in charge of the release of the fund, Mr. Wally Ngama by name told me to go home that he will discuss my matter with the board of directors of the company and they will get back to me very soon. Fortunately for us he called me this evening and told me that they have discussed about the whole matter and they will be getting in touch with you who is my beneficiary anytime from now so if you do hear from them please let me know.

I am just coming back from the travel agents office that is arranging our visa to England for us. I will still go back tomorrow is complete his payment. He gave me full assurance that the visa will be ready by middle of next week so my mother and I hope that all goes well so that by ending of next week we will be in England with you. How far have you gone with finding a house for us, please let me know.

I will wait to hear from you very soon my dear friend and once again thank you very much for helping us.

Dear Stan,

I received your email yesterday. Was that you that left that voicemail on my machine last night? Your voice was so low I couldn't understand you.

I have been busy with clients all day today and this evening. Actually I'm still at work now but I'll be leaving for home shortly. As I am a real estate agent, it will be no problem finding a good selection of properties for your consideration. I will have a quick look tonight. Would you prefer something in the city, in the suburbs, or something in a rural setting?

I can see from your driving licence that you are a handsome man. Are you married? I am 30 years old, attractive and freshly single. Just something for you to keep in mind for when you arrive.

I will get back to you soon concerning the house.

Bye for now,

I am happy that you are a real estate agent so finding a nice house for us will not be a problem to you, just let me know if you have found any but you know that you will have to do that fast because according to my travel agent who is arranging our visa for us, he said that the visa will be ready be next week so hopefully we will be in England by ending of next week if all goes as planned. Please equally help me to look around for a good business so as to invest with my money.

My mother and I are looking forward to meeting you. We have agreed to give you 15% of the total money as a sign of appreciation for your kindness and willingness in helping us. Like I told you before I am single and never really had much luck when it came to women matter but I hope to find my choice one day, please send me your picture so that I can see what you really look like.

Hoping to hear from you soon but dont fail to tell me if the security company gets in touch with you.

Dear Stan,

How is my charming prince?

I have not received anything at all from anyone but you regarding this matter. No one from any security company has contacted me.

I think I have found the perfect house for you. It's a detached 4 bedroom house with about 2400 square feet of living space on a 75' by 150' lot in a very nice area of Salford. It's not really very far from where I live. I know it's a bit larger than you wanted but I think I can negotiate the price down to a bargain level, probably under £275,000. The seller is very motivated. I'll attach some pics of it with my next email.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you and your mother when you arrive. I can hardly wait. Please send me some pics of yourself too. I'm sure that the driving licence photo doesn't do you justice. I have a pic handy of me. I'll attach it here and I'll send you some more later.

Stan, I just can't put into words how excited I am about everything. I'm going out for a few drinks now with a couple of friends. Maybe I'll call you later.

Bye 4 now.

Dear Shanda,

Thank you once again for keeping me updated, I am really grateful and happy and so is my mother. I went outside to a business center to scan my driver’s license to you before and I will equally do the same with my other pictures very soon, it is a promise.

You wrote me that the courier company is demanding 1882 pounds from you for delivering the box. I am surprised because I didn’t know it would cost that much to deliver the box to you after I have spent so much to see that the box was release from the security company, anyway I believe what will be, will be.

Shanda I want to let you that my mother and I have really appreciated your concern and willingness to help us for all around us are not as good as you, but right now I want to ask you of a favor which is to help me financially because I must confess to you that I have spent a lot of money to see that all goes as planned. Right now I am yet to complete the money that I am supposed to pay to the travel agent who is doing our papers for us.

I didn’t want to tell you because you have done enough already and also because I felt I could handle it alone but now I call on you to help for I know that once you receive the box for me it will be smiles all round for all of us. Please don’t be put off by our bad network problem down here if you cannot get me on phone, I urge you to keep on trying and you will get me. Preferably give me a time that you would be at home so that I can call you by that time. I am going to call you right now but if I don’t get you I will drop a message.

I will be waiting to hear from you very soon. It is a matter of time before all will be well my dear friend and this is a promise.

By this time yesterday I came back from my hometown having in mind that if all goes as planned that I would be in England with my mother by the end of the week, but today it seems to be a different story, now I disturbed with the fact that I don’t have the money to move my fund to a safer place for my mother and I.

Dear Shanda,

I received your email this morning though I stayed up most of the night waiting for your call. I once again apologize for the terrible network problem in the country, I know that I have stressed you but please bear with me.

To be quite frank with you Shanda, I have not had rest of mind since the courier company contacted you. I have gone around looking for money to use and pay the courier company for the delivery of the box that contains my money to you but so far have not got any luck. My travel agent is on the other side asking for his balance for our visa but still there is no money.

Shanda please I plead with you with all my heart for you to come to my aid for I need it now more than ever. Please help me to pay for the delivery of the box to you in England and I promise I will make it up to you. I have decided to give you 20% of the money and still pay you for all your expense, so as to see that nothing happens to the money. It is not all that safe in the courier company because if they came to know the content of the box, surely you know what will happen.

Please my dear I need you more than you know. Since you cannot get me on phone, give me your office number so that I can reach you on it or better still tell me the time that you would be at home so that I will call you by that time, don’t worry about calling me again but give me a time that I will get you. Once again I plead with you to help me financially for you are my only hope now. I am anxiously waiting to hear from you. Tell me how far you have gone with the house that you found for us.

Best Regards and lots of love,
Stan Ifyob Abonime.

I kept trying his phone number off and on throughout the evening. My persistence pays off. Finally, at about 11:15 PM Lagos time I get through.

Now, this call requires some explanation. First, as a fairly normal-sounding male, there's no way I could fool anyone into believing I was a young woman. Now, I could have asked my wife to play the role of Shanda (and I'm certain that she would have refused) but I decided that it would be more fun to use a fake voice. After experimenting with voice changers, I decided on using a text-to-speech program to make about 60 or 70 small voice clips using an English woman's voice.

So here we have our scammer speaking/listening to a digitized voice. I think that the results are quite amusing.

I plan on doing this again with him in the near future...assuming I can get him on the phone.

Dear Shanda,

I am happy to hear from you, my mother was asleep when you called I would have love her to hear your voice over the telephone. I told her you called this morning she was happy and sends her greetings. After our telephone conversation, this morning, I have to rush down to the courier company to request for their information on how to make the payment to them so that they will ship out the box as soon as possible. I love the picture you send, it so sexy I can wait to be with you. It is unfortunate that I don’t have any sexy picture, but nothing would be sexier than being with you by next week. I don’t have a digital camera and I cannot just go to the studio to take any sexy picture, I am not use to that.

I need you to help me out in paying these fees needed from the courier company so that they will ship out the box as soon as possible. Like I have said, I have spent all the money I have to make sure that the box is release for shipment, when the security finance company required for the demurrage in which the box has acquired since my late father deposited the fund with them.

Please send money with the names below:
(1) NAME: Prince George Green.
ADDRESS: 8 Walter Egerton Drive, Victoria Island, Lagos
LOCATION: Lagos Nigeria
AMOUNT: £910.00

(2) NAME: Raymond Kenile Mordi.
ADDRESS: 8 Walter Egerton Drive, Victoria Island, Lagos
LOCATION: Lagos Nigeria
AMOUNT: £910.00

After you might have sent the money, please reply with (1) NAME OF THE SENDER (2) ADDRESS OF THE SENDER (3) TEXT QUESTION & ANSWER (4) CONTROL NUMBERS. If I received the information from you by tomorrow, I will be going to the courier company with the information to have them send out the box to your address in England. Please send the money as soon a possible so that I will be coming to England with my mother. When the box is delivered to your address, keep it safe, and don’t tell anyone about the box. My life depends on it, first thing I will do is to give you the percentage I have promised you, second, we will go and pay for the house where we will be living. Possibly I will love you to pack in with me so that we will plan ahead.

Hoping to hear from you a soon as possible.

Lots of love,

Dear Stan,

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I had to spend the night down in Portsmouth on the coast. I just returned home a few minutes ago.

Concerning the courier fees you mentioned, that's a lot of money. I don't think I can come up with that much money myself. Not right now anyway. It would probably take me about a month to save up for this.

What are these fees for anyway? Why couldn't I just send £1820.00 directly to the courier? Who are these people that you want me to send this money to? Would a personal cheque be okay? What is a text question and answer? Would you have to give this information to me?

You don't have a digital camera? Everyone has a digital camera. I think you're just too shy.

Listen. I want to talk to you on the phone again. I will try to call you shortly.

Bye 4 Now my lovely prince,

My Dear Shanda,

I am sorry that the line was breaking when you called yesterday, I never knew that you were out of town, you are welcome my sweetheart. The fees from the courier are their charges for shipping of the box to you in England Via a diplomatic means. I inquired for reason and they made me to understand that it is their total expenses for tax, insurance and delivery. Please I need you to assist me, I have spent all I have. The little money with me here is for our feeding and for some little expense for the time being.

Those names are the names of the accountants from the courier company. When I ask for the payment mode for delivery of the box, they ask me to visit their account department that was when the man who is in charge gave me the names that I should ask you to send the money through western union money transfer.

I don't think your check will clear over here, I will appreciate if you send them cash so that they will affect the delivery as soon as possible.

Find a western union money transfer location in your area, tell them you want to send money they will tell you what to do. After you must have been through with the transaction, they will give you those information I needed from you, which is control number, text question and answer, then you have to write me back with the information.

I don't say you should send me the money. The information, which you will be using for sending it, is from the courier company. The money you would be sending cannot be picked up if those people that bears the name are not there presently in the bank. You are sending with their names and address. If you are sending to me I will tell you to send with my name.

If you send it, and reply with the information, I will proceed to the courier company with the information and submit the information to their account department so that they will pick up the money for the shipment and affect the delivery of the box immediately, I will be there also to make sure it is off before I go back home.

Please find a way and see if you can send the money today so that by Monday the box will leave to your address in England. Send £1500 I have some money with me, I will make up the money when I reach at the courier company. Please I will be waiting for your next reply with the western union money transfer information. Mum sends her greetings.

Best regards my love,
Stan Ifyob Abonime.

I resend the information again, name and where you will be sending the money.

(1) NAME: Prince George Green.
ADDRESS: 8 Walter Egerton Drive, Victoria Island, Lagos
LOCATION: Lagos Nigeria
AMOUNT: £750.00

(2) NAME: Raymond Kenile Mordi.
ADDRESS: 8 Walter Egerton Drive, Victoria Island, Lagos

After you sent it, I will need: (1) NAME OF THE SENDER (2) ADDRESS OF THE SENDER (3) TEXT QUESTION & ANSWER (4) CONTROL NUMBERS.

I may be able to send the entire amount of £1500.00 but I will have to 'borrow' some money from my employer's bank account to do so. I hope my boss won't notice.

Dear Stan

I apologise for the delay in replying to you. Please understand that it has been a very trying time for us.

You must be her friend from Africa. Thank you for your kind words. She talked about incessantly lately. I know that she was truly in love with you. You must be devastated.

Unfortunately I don't have access to her email account. I could only reach those email contacts which she had written in her address book that she kept in her purse so I'm not familiar with any business she may have had with you. I only assumed that you were coming to Manchester to marry her.

The funeral was today. We have just returned from the cemetery where Shanda is resting. I'm sorry that there was no time for you to come to Manchester to attend.

We are considering purchasing a headstone for Shanda's grave and we were hoping that you could make a financial contribution. If you can do this, we will arrange to have your name engraved on the headstone.

Again, I'm sorry that you had to miss the funeral. Will you still be coming to England?

I will wait for your reply.

Yes I will still be coming to England, and will be willing to do anything for my love. I have a little problem, which she was about to help me out before the sudden incident. She was about to help m receive a box that contains the sum of three million USD, as my beneficiary. To summarize everything, after many expenses from my side, I run out of cash. She promises to help me pay for shipment fees of about one thousand five hundred pounds. I have given her information on how to send the money with the name and address of the courier company. She wanted to help me before she died. Now everything is kept pending because I used her name and address as where the box would be deliverer to.

I am a prince and my father is dead, due to threat and traditional things over here, they I might lose my life like my father. Before his death he told me to leave the country for good with the fund and invest and start a new live with my mother. When I met Shanda, she was kind then we fell in love. Not only that she was about to help us receive the box, I promise to may her when I come over. I told me mother about her, she said that she will give us her blessings when we come over.

Finally, I want to know if you will be willing to help me in paying the fees to the courier company. if you could, then give me your full name and address so that I will go to the courier company to change everything to your address. So that by next week it would be delivered then I will be coming over with my mother. Since you are a good friend to Shanda, I know you will not disappoint me. I trusted you like I trust her. Please I have nothing left with me. If you cannot help me out, tell me so that I will know what next to do with my self.

My father was the king of my town in cross rivers the highest oil producing area in Nigeria. He was in charge of reviving royalties from the multi-national oil companies and government on behalf of the oil producing communities in Nigeria. Due to some problems and jalousies he died, It is a long story. Due to the love that my father have for my mother, he told me to relocate to a foreign country with the fund and start a new live that in no condition that I would decide to stay in Nigeria because they will kill me and my mother if they came to find out that we have such money in our possession. The fund in question is $3,000,000.00 USD and some landed document inside it. But I have nothing to do with the documents, when you receive the box, we have to destroy the documents because I will not be coming back to Nigeria for any reason or landed property.

However, I have agreed to give you %20 out of the total fund when I arrive with my mother if you help us out. we had already promised to give shanda. The money you are sending is for the shipping of the box. The name and address are from the courier company. If I receive you reply with your information showing that you have sent the money. I will proceed to their office to so that they will affect the delivery immediately.

Don't forget to reply with your full name, phone and home address.

Best regards,
Stan.

Dear Stan,

Three million dollars??? Holy shit! Why didn't you tell me this in the first place.

Sure. I guess I can help you but who is Prince George Green? We had a Prince George before. Then he became King George. That was right after King Henry the eighth I think.

Want to know why they called him Henry the eighth? It's because he got married to the widow next door. She'd been married seven times before and every one was an Henry. She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam. Henry was her eighth old man. So that's why he was called the eighth Henry. A fellow named Herman told me that.

Since I was Shanda's room mate my address and telephone number are the same as her's. Surely you have this information.

Dear Smith,

When did you change your name?

You want to know what I bloody think. I think you're one of those Nigerian 491 scammers.

You tried to scam my best friend Shanda out of a bunch of cash. Lucky for her she was killed before she sent you any money.

Goodbye Smith.
