The Allen Bruce Letters

I have been contacted by an auditor of a "Prime Bank" in London. Seems that some bloke died in 1998 and his funds of $7,000,000 have been found "floating" in a bank account. Only the auditor, Allen Bruce, and some Canadian investor that is going to put up the expense money (about $35,000) know about this account. However, for some reason they need my assistance to move it out of the UK. I think I'll have Otto Rex attempt to assist the crooked auditor.

I chose this scam letter from the 70 or so I receive every day because the scammer has made it clear that he's looking for big bucks. I'm finding that these idiots that are looking for just a few hundred dollars via Western Union are extremely flaky to deal with.

Conventions within the thread:

E-mails from the fraudsters are in black.
E-mails from me (Otto Rex) are in italicized green.
Red X's represent characters that have been changed to protect personal info.
Comments from me are in bold black.

The game commences with the scammer's initial e-mail.

Subject: URGENT REQUEST .............
Date: Sun, 08 May 2005 16:48:31 +0000
From: allen bruce

Dear Sir,

We might be strangers to ourselves now but as time goes on incase you are willing to assist me in making this proposala reality,we will now probably meet in person. We want to transfer to overseas account ($7,000.000.00 USD) Seven million United States Dollars) from a Prime Bank here in London, I want to ask you, If you can look for a reliable and honest person who will be capable and fit to provide either an existing Bank Account or to set up a new Bank A/C immediately to receive this money, even an empty A/C can serve to receive this money, as long as you will remain honest to me till the end for this important business trusting in you and believing in God that you will never let me down either now or in future.

I am the Auditor General of one of the prime banks here in London, during the course of our auditing,I discovered a floating fund in an account opened in the bank in 1996 and since 1998 nobody has operated on this account again, after going throughsome old files in the records I discovered that the owner of the account died without a[Heir/WILL] hence the money is floating and if I do not remit this money out urgently it will be forfeited for nothing. The owner of this account is PEDRO F. HASLER a foreigner, a great industrialist and he died since 1998.

No other person knows about this Account or any thing concerning it, the account has no other beneficiary and my investigation proved to me as well that until his death he was the manager GOLD ARK [pty].S.A. We will start the first transfer with Four million [$4,000.000] upon successful transaction without any disappoint from your side, we shall re-apply for the payment of the remaining rest amount to your Account. The total amount involve is Seven million United States Dollars only [$7,000.000.00]. I want to first transfer $4,000.000.00 [Four million United States Dollar] from this money into a safe foreigners account abroad before the rest.

But I don't know any foreigner, I am only contacting you as a foreigner because this money can not be approved to a local Person here, without valid international foreign passport, but can only be approved to any foreigner with valid international passport or drivers license and foreign A/C because the money is in US dollars and the former owner of the a/c is a foreigner too, and the money can only be approved into a foreign A/C. However, we will sign a binding agreement, to bind us together when we meet face to face after the first transfer of $4 Million before transferring the second part of $3 Million. I am revealing this to you with believe in God that you will never let me down in this business, you are the first and the only person that I am contacting for this business, so please reply urgently so that I will inform you the next step to take urgently.

Send also your private telephone and fax number including the full details of the account to be used for the deposit. I want us to meet face to face to build confidence and to sign a binding agreement that will bind us together immediately after the first transfer before we fly to your country for withdrawal, sharing and investments. I need your full co-operation to make this work fine because the management is ready to approve this payment to any foreigner who has correct information of this account, which I will give to you upon your positive response and once I am convinced that you are capable and will meet up with instruction of a key bank official who is deeply involved with me in this business.

I need your strong assurance that you will never, never let me down. I have perfected all modalities for the successful transfer of this money to you as the beneficiary. Finally, I have to reassure you that this transaction is 100% risk free and should be kept absolutely confidential. Presently, you can reach me by return mail, you should also include your telephone numbers if any, for secured communication between us With my influence and my position in the bank the bank official can transfer this money to any foreigner's reliable account that you can provide with assurance that this money will be intact pending our physical arrival in your country for sharing. The bank official Will destroy all documents of transaction immediately we receive this money leaving no trace to any place and to build confidence you can call me for heart to heart discussion through my private satellite phone which I secured for the security and safety of this business as you know that this business is confidential.

I will use my position and influence to obtain all legal approvals for onward transfer of this money to your account with appropriate clearance from the relevant ministries and foreign exchange departments. I will provide you with 30% for assisting us and 5% to be set aside for reimbursement, for expenses that may arise during the process of concluding the transaction. The fund shall be transferred to you legally in accordance to all laid down proceduresgoverning transfer of funds. I look forward to your earliest reply through this email address or my professional but confidential email address: xxxxxxxxx@myway.com.

Thanks and God Bless.
Yours truly Mr. Allen Bruce.

N.B Definitely,a transaction of this magnititude needs funds to execute and make it a reality and before,i contacted you,i have already made a feasibility study on how much we would need to carryout this project and it is about $35,000. Do not be alarmed, you are not going to spend any fund of yours caused before i contacted you,i have already made an arrangement with an investor in canada, who is going to assist us with the funds needed for us to complete the transaction.

If you are interested, immediately, give me your telephone/fax number and contact address for me to give to the investor to contact you and send the funds needed for us to complete the transaction.

Dear Sir,

I am very interested in your proposal. You need not look any further for someone. I'm your man.

I would like some more information on how you intend to pull this off though. Also, is there any risk of us getting caught?

Who is the other investor in this from Canada? How many other people know about this?

I am in Clearwater, Florida, USA.

This sounds like something I can handle. Please get back to me on this matter quickly. Or is this some kind of joke?

Yours,

Otto Rex

Dear Rex,

Thanks for your response and willingness to be part of the transaction that I proposed to you. This transaction is very real, legitimate and 100% risk free as you would see for yourself once we get started. But before we proceed with the transaction, I have to solicit for your utmost truth, trust and confidentiality on this matter for this is the only prerequisite for us to succeed as partners.

We are to first of all start with the preparations of documents in your name which I am to file to my bank, making you the next of kin to the funds.

The investor is to assit us with the funds which we are to use for the prepartions of documents to make this transaction a reality.

We would be able to complete this transaction between 10-14 banking days depending on how fast you follow the instructions of the transaction.

Please send your phone/fax number, contact address (not p.o box) too with your response to this mail, so that I can forward it to the investor for him to call you and discuss the modalities of you receving the necessary funds to make this transaction a reality.

I expect to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Mr. Bruce

Dear Bruce,

Good to hear back from you.

Since it was YOU who contacted ME, I assumed that you would have had my address and telephone number already.

You mention that this deal is completely legal. I don't buy that for a moment. This, however is not a problem with me.

I think I would prefer that I do not give out my exact address at this time. Due to the obvious nature of this proposed deal, I do not wish to put my family at any kind of risk, from the authorities or otherwise.

I am also available to travel if necessary although I would appreciate some advance notice of any extended trips that I will need to make.

My mobile number is 727-XXX-XXXX. If your investor wishes to contact me, I am available at that number most evenings and weekends.

I trust that the above information will be satisfactory to you for now.

Regards,

Otto Rex

Sorry for my delay in replying to your previous mail to me, this was due to the fact that I was really tight up with office work.

His name is Steve Coleman, let me know as soon as he calls you.

How is everything generally with you? Hope fine.

Dear Mr. Bruce,

I hope you are well.

I have asked you for your telephone number but you have evidently forgotten to give it to me.

I have been very busy these past few days and have unfortunately missed both your and Mr. Mullanga's telephone calls. I have received the voice messages from both of you, however.

I shall endeavor to get a hold of Mr. Mullanga shortly. I think it might be better if I could contact him via email in the future as well as it is impractical for me to sit alone with my telephone awaiting his calls.
